What is the most underrated indie music concert you've ever attended?
Oh boy, do I have a story to tell you! Buckle up, because we're about to take a ride through the most underrated indie music concert I've ever attended.
It all started when my friend Ryan dragged me to a small venue in the heart of downtown. I mean, it was so indie, even the cobblestone streets leading up to it were screaming "hipster".
I had never heard of the band before - they were called "The Scrappy Doodles". I mean, with a name like that, it could either be really good or really, well, scrappy. But man oh man, were they good.
The opening act was some guy who looked like he just rolled out of bed and grabbed his guitar, but once he started playing, it was like he had us completely captivated. He even sang a song about his cat, and I swear everyone in the crowd ended up buying his EP before the night was over.
Finally, it was time for The Scrappy Doodles to take the stage. They were a four-piece band, and when they started playing, it was like they were summoning some sort of indie music god from the depths of Brooklyn.
The lead singer had the perfect mix between a brooding singer-songwriter and a fun-loving rockstar. He even did a spoken word poetry interlude in the middle of one of their songs - I mean, who does that?!
The energy in the room was electric, and everyone was singing along to every single song. The most memorable moment was during their song "Indie Rock is Dead", where they had the entire crowd bouncing up and down in sync. It was like we were all just one big indie family.
I still can't believe that only about 50 people were in attendance that night. It was hands down the most underrated indie music concert I've ever attended.
So, there you have it. If you ever get the chance to see The Scrappy Doodles live, don't pass it up. And if you're ever feeling like there's no hope for indie music, just know that they're out there, keeping the indie spirit alive.
