Has religious extremism throughout history helped or hindered the progress of religion?

Throughout history, many people have had very strong beliefs about religion. Some people have believed so strongly that they have become extremists. This means that they believe that their religious beliefs are the only ones that are right, and they are willing to do anything to protect those beliefs.

Religious extremism has both helped and hindered the progress of religion. On one hand, religious extremism has led to movements that have helped to spread the message of religion to many people. For example, some extremists have gone on missions to convert people to their religion, and these missions have often been successful in spreading the word.

However, religious extremism has also hindered the progress of religion. When extremists become too extreme, they can become violent and hurt other people. This type of behavior can actually turn people away from religion, as they don't want to associate with a group that promotes violence.

In addition, religious extremism often leads to intolerance towards other religions. This can cause tension and conflict between people of different religious beliefs. Instead of working together to promote a peaceful, cooperative society, religious extremists often promote division and hate.

While religious extremism may have some benefits in spreading religious messages, it is important to remember that it can also have serious negative consequences. It is always important to respect others' beliefs and promote love and acceptance towards all people, regardless of their religion.
