In my opinion, media and politicians have a huge impact on promoting or combating xenophobia. Xenophobia is a very common problem these days, where people have fear, hate, or prejudice towards foreigners or people from other cultures or countries. Media and political leaders have the responsibility to lead and educate the people, which can either encourage or discourage this kind of behaviour.

Media plays a crucial role in our society as it is responsible for disseminating information and shaping public opinion. It is the primary source of information and can, therefore, instil immediate reactions among the general public. Unfortunately, sometimes media channels are biased, and they can mislead people with their unfounded narratives. Media has the power to create awareness about multiculturalism and its benefits, but it can also provoke fear and hatred towards immigrants. For instance, sensationalized news stories tend to portray immigrants as criminals or terrorists, which reinforces negative stereotypes that promote prejudice and discrimination. Such negative media presentations about immigrants can lead to creating unwarranted fears among people, and they may become hesitant to accept and interact with people who come from different cultural backgrounds.

On the other hand, media can be used to promote cultural exchange and empathy towards diverse communities. It can highlight success stories of immigrants and showcase their contributions to society.
