Who are some of the most successful democracy activists in recent times?

Well, there have been many democracy activists who have made a huge impact in recent times. It's hard to pick just a few, but I'll give it a shot.

First off, I gotta mention Malala Yousafzai. She's not just a democracy activist, but also a women's rights activist. She got shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating for girls' education in Pakistan, and survived to become the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She's only 23 years old and already a global icon.

Another name that comes to mind is Greta Thunberg. She's not strictly a democracy activist, but her climate change activism has had a huge impact on shaping public opinion and inspiring youth-led movements around the world. She's only 18 years old and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize twice already.

In the US, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (or AOC, as she's commonly known) has been a rising star in progressive politics. She was elected to Congress at just 29 years old and has been an outspoken advocate for progressive policies like Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and immigrant rights. She's often targeted by conservative media outlets but has a huge following among young voters and progressives.

Speaking of young progressives, I also have to mention Bernie Sanders. He's not exactly a new face in politics, but he's been a consistent champion of progressive causes like income inequality, universal healthcare, and campaign finance reform for decades. He ran for president twice and galvanized a huge grassroots movement that continues to influence American politics.

Finally, I have to give a shoutout to the people on the ground in places like Hong Kong and Belarus who have been fighting for democracy and human rights in the face of authoritarian regimes. It's hard to name specific individuals, but the images and videos of ordinary people standing up to repression and brutality are truly inspiring. They deserve our solidarity and support.

Of course, these are just a few examples of the many democracy activists out there. There are countless others working tirelessly to make the world a better place, and we should all be grateful for their efforts.
