Well, Gorbachev was a very important leader in the Soviet Union a long time ago. He made many changes to try and improve things, but not everyone liked them. Some people thought that he was doing a bad job, and they had some criticisms and controversies about his leadership and policies.

One of the big things that Gorbachev did was to try and make the Soviet Union more open and free. He wanted to let people speak their minds and have more say in how things were done. But some people didn't like this. They wanted things to stay the way they were, with the government in control of everything.
