How long did the construction of the Pyramids really take?

The construction of the Pyramids in Egypt took a really, really long time. Historians say it could have taken around 20 years to build just one pyramid! But, nobody knows for sure because it was a really long time ago and there weren't any written records.

The first pyramid ever built was the Step Pyramid, which was built around 2630 BC during King Djoser's reign. It was designed by his architect, Imhotep, who is known as one of the best architects in history. This pyramid took about 19 years to complete and was made up of six layers.

The most famous pyramids are the ones at Giza, which were built about 4500 years ago during the Old Kingdom period. There are three pyramids at Giza: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the largest one and is still one of the biggest structures ever built by humans!

It's believed that around 100,000 workers were involved in the construction of the pyramids at Giza. It's not clear how they built them, as there were no cranes or modern-day machinery at that time. Some historians think that the blocks were pulled along on sledges while others think that they used ramps to transport them to the top of the pyramid.

Whatever method they used, it certainly took a lot of hard work and dedication to build these amazing structures. The pyramids have stood the test of time and are still some of the most iconic buildings in the world today. They continue to fascinate people of all ages and will always be a symbol of ancient Egypt's incredible architecture and engineering skills.
