These states have large wooded areas and wildlife, which are the primary habitat for the black-legged ticks that carry the Lyme disease bacteria. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 300,000 cases of Lyme disease were reported in the United States between 2005 and 2017. However, the actual number of reported cases could be higher as some individuals may not show any symptoms.

Canada is another country with a high incidence of Lyme disease. The disease is most commonly found in the province of Ontario and southeastern parts of Manitoba. In recent years, the number of reported cases has been on the rise. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, there were over 2,000 cases of Lyme disease reported in 2017, up from 144 cases in 2009.

Western Europe is also experiencing an increase in Lyme disease cases, with Germany, France, and Austria reporting the most cases. The disease is most commonly found in wooded and grassy areas and is transmitted by the deer tick. In 2016, Germany reported over 60,000 cases of Lyme disease, which was the highest number of reported cases in Europe.

In Asia, Lyme disease is most commonly found in China, Japan, and Korea. However, the disease is often misdiagnosed as other illnesses, making it difficult to determine the exact number of cases. According to a study published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, there were over 6,000 cases of Lyme disease reported in China between 2006 and 2015.
