I believe that people are naturally inclined to engage in prosocial behavior, but it's also a learned behavior. Let me explain further.
First, we are born with an innate sense of empathy and compassion. As human beings, we have the ability to feel what others are feeling, and that's what often drives us to behave in a prosocial way. For example, when we see someone who is sad or hurt, we may feel compelled to offer comfort or help. This behavior is innate, and it comes from our natural desire to connect with others and make them feel better.
However, as we grow up and learn about the world around us, we also learn how to be prosocial in a more intentional way. We learn about the importance of kindness, generosity, and helping others. We learn about the benefits of being a good member of our community and making a positive impact on those around us. Through education, guidance, and role models, we can develop our prosocial tendencies and learn to act on them more frequently.
That being said, there are also certain factors that can influence whether someone is more inclined to be prosocial or not. For example, research has shown that individuals who have had positive social experiences with others early in life are more likely to be prosocial than those who have not.
