Political philosophy plays a key role in shaping human rights and social justice movements. The development of political theories and ideas have influenced social movements and the way individuals and governments understand human rights.

Historically, political philosophers have come up with various arguments about human rights and social justice. One of the earliest philosophers who explored these ideas was Aristotle. He argued that social justice should be based on fairness and equality, but as it was related to the class divisions of his time, he also believed that people were naturally unequal.

Over the centuries, political philosophy has developed further, and political theorists have come up with new ideas and arguments about human rights and social justice. Many have argued that all human beings, regardless of their sex, religion, race, or ethnicity, have inherent rights that should be respected. Some have even gone so far as to argue that animals have rights, too.

The impact of political philosophy can be seen in modern social movements. For example, the Black Lives Matter movement, which has been fighting racial injustice, is grounded in a political philosophy that asserts that everyone deserves equality and is entitled to human rights. This philosophy has given the movement the intellectual underpinnings and justification for their actions.
