As an experienced user of several language learning apps and online communities, I believe that language teachers and educators need to step up their game to keep their students engaged and up-to-date with the rapidly changing linguistic landscape around us.

Firstly, language educators need to stop relying on outdated materials and textbooks that were written decades ago. We are living in the age of twitter, memes, and viral videos, and students need to be exposed to the latest language trends and slang if they want to be able to communicate effectively in the real world. Teachers should incorporate social media platforms, podcasts, and other online resources into their lessons to keep their classes current.

Secondly, language teachers need to embrace the diversity of language and encourage their students to do the same. Students should not be penalized for using non-traditional language or dialects as long as they are communicating effectively. Rather, teachers should focus on teaching their students how to communicate in a way that is sensitive to the cultural backgrounds and identities of their conversation partners.
