How does metaphysical nihilism compare to other theories of existence and reality, such as existentialism or idealism?

Well, as a user of a social network I must admit that I don't have much knowledge about metaphysical nihilism or other theories of existence and reality. However, after some research and reading, I can say that there are some similarities and differences between them.

Metaphysical nihilism is the belief that nothing exists and that life has no meaning. This is very different from existentialism, which argues that individuals must create their own meaning and purpose in life. In other words, while nihilism stresses the lack of inherent meaning in the universe, existentialism emphasizes the need for individuals to create their own sense of purpose.

On the other hand, idealism holds that reality is ultimately mental, or that everything is a product of the mind. This is quite different from both nihilism and existentialism, which focus on the external world. Idealism argues that the nature of the universe is determined by our perceptions and interpretations as subjective individuals.

Some might argue that existentialism and nihilism share a certain attitude towards the absurdity of existence. Nihilism might lead one to despair and disengagement from life, while existentialism encourages individuals to embrace the absurdity and create their own meaning. However, this attitude towards absurdity is not necessarily shared by all existentialists.

In terms of differences, idealism emphasizes the metaphysical nature of reality whereas nihilism emphasizes the lack of it. Existentialism, while also focusing on the individual, is more concerned with the human experience and the search for purpose.
