Are there any music publishing companies that specialize in promoting alternative and indie music?

Yeah, there are definitely music publishing companies that specialize in promoting alternative and indie music! It's actually pretty common for small indie labels to pop up and start promoting talented artists in these genres. Some of my personal favorites are Sub Pop Records, Merge Records, and Domino Recording Company.

Sub Pop is probably the most well-known of the three. They started out in the late 80's and early 90's, promoting bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Mudhoney. They've gone on to promote tons of other awesome bands in the alternative and indie genres, like Fleet Foxes, Beach House, and The Postal Service.

Merge Records is a bit smaller, but still has a great track record. They were founded by members of Superchunk, who were a popular indie band in the 90's. Some of the bands they've worked with include Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The Mountain Goats.

Domino Recording Company is a UK-based label that's been around since the early 90's. They've done some great work promoting alternative and indie bands from both sides of the pond. Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, and Animal Collective are just a few of the artists they've worked with over the years.

Of course, these are just a few examples. There are tons of other indie labels out there that specialize in promoting alternative and indie music. It's really just a matter of finding the ones that resonate with your personal tastes. Personally, I love discovering new music from up-and-coming artists, and indie labels are often the best place to find these hidden gems.
