Hey friend,

When it comes to wildlife travel destinations, there are certainly the classic spots that come to mind, such as the Serengeti or the Amazon rainforest. However, there are also some underrated and off-the-beaten-path locations that are definitely worth considering.

One that immediately comes to mind for me is Namibia. This African country is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including desert elephants, lions, and black rhinos. Moreover, the landscapes are truly stunning and unlike anything you'll see elsewhere. For example, the red sand dunes of Sossusvlei are often cited as a must-visit destination. While Namibia is certainly growing in popularity as a tourist destination, it's still not as crowded as some of the other African countries.

Another destination that may be off your radar is Canada's Great Bear Rainforest. This incredibly lush and biodiverse region is found on the Pacific coast of British Columbia and is home to a variety of bear species, including grizzlies and the rare Kermode or "Spirit" bear. Visitors can take guided tours to see the bears, as well as other wildlife like wolves and eagles. Additionally, the natural beauty of the rainforest itself is truly breathtaking.

If you're looking for a more tropical destination, consider Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula. This secluded region is home to a huge number of species, including jaguars, monkeys, and tapirs. It's also one of the few places in the world where you can still see scarlet macaws in the wild. While the Osa Peninsula is becoming more popular with tourists, it's still relatively unknown compared to other Costa Rican destinations like the Arenal Volcano or Manuel Antonio National Park.

Another great option is the Malaysian state of Sabah on the island of Borneo. This region is home to a range of wildlife, including orangutans, pygmy elephants, and proboscis monkeys. Additionally, the coral reefs off the coast of Sabah are some of the best in the world, making it a great choice for nature-loving scuba divers and snorkelers.

Last but not least, I'll throw in a US destination - Yellowstone National Park. While certainly not unknown, Yellowstone is often overlooked in favor of more trendy national parks like Yosemite or Zion. That being said, Yellowstone is home to an incredible array of wildlife, including bison, wolves, and grizzly bears. Additionally, the geothermal features like Old Faithful are truly unique and worth seeing in person.

Hopefully these suggestions give you some ideas for your next wildlife-focused adventure!
