Are there any TV shows that should have had a different ending based on the writers' choices?
Hey man! Thanks for asking. Yes, there are definitely some TV shows that should have had a different ending based on the writers' choices. In fact, I can think of a few that really disappointed me.
One show that immediately comes to mind is Game of Thrones. As you know, it had a huge following and was known for its unpredictable storyline and shocking deaths. However, the final season left a lot to be desired. The whole "Night King" storyline seemed to be building up to a massive battle and epic conclusion, but it ended up being resolved way too quickly and easily. And don't even get me started on the way some of the characters' story arcs were wrapped up. It felt rushed and unsatisfying.
Another show that I think should have had a different ending is How I Met Your Mother. I absolutely loved this show and was invested in the characters' lives for years. However, the way the final episode played out left a bad taste in my mouth. It seemed like the writers were trying to go for a "twist ending" that would be memorable, but it ended up feeling forced and unrealistic. Plus, it felt like they undid a lot of character development that had happened over the course of the series.
Lastly, I think Dexter is another show that should have had a different ending. Dexter was known for its unique premise of a serial killer who only targets other bad people, and it was a fan favorite for years. However, the final season seemed to be building up to a big showdown between Dexter and a rival killer, and instead he ends up becoming a lumberjack in the woods. It felt like a cop-out and didn't give fans the satisfying conclusion they were hoping for.
Overall, I think that some TV shows really missed the mark when it came to their endings, and it's a shame because they were beloved by so many people. Hopefully, in the future, writers will take more care in crafting a conclusion that is both satisfying and true to the show's spirit. Thanks for asking, man.
