Is monotheism the oldest religion?

Well, as far as I know, monotheism is not the oldest religion. In fact, it is one of the youngest ones. The oldest known religions were polytheistic, meaning they believed in multiple gods.

For example, ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans all worshiped a pantheon of gods and goddesses. These deities were seen as powerful beings who controlled various aspects of life, such as the sun, the moon, nature, and war.

It wasn't until much later in human history that monotheism emerged as a religious belief. Monotheism is the belief in one single deity or god, rather than multiple gods. This concept first appeared in Judaism, which emerged as a distinct religion around 2000 BCE.

From there, monotheism continued to spread to other parts of the world. Christianity emerged in the 1st century CE and became the dominant religion of Europe during the Middle Ages. Islam, which also believes in one God, emerged in the 7th century CE and spread quickly across the Middle East and North Africa.

So, to answer the question, no, monotheism is not the oldest religion. It is actually one of the newest ones. However, it is interesting to note that monotheism has had a significant impact on the world, particularly in terms of shaping morality and governance.
