What makes literary analysis an essential component of Literature and Poetry?

Literary analysis is a really important thing to do when we read literature and poetry. It helps us understand what the author is trying to say and how they are saying it. It's like a puzzle that we have to solve!

When we read a book or a poem, we have to pay attention to the words and sentences. We need to think about what they mean and how they make us feel. This is called reading closely. When we read closely, we can find patterns and themes that the author is using to tell their story.

This is where literary analysis comes in. When we analyze literature, we are trying to figure out what the author is saying and how they are saying it. We look for things like symbolism, imagery, and figurative language.

Symbolism is when an object or element represents something else. Like how a white dove represents peace. Imagery is when the author uses words to create a picture in our minds. For example, if the author talks about a hot, dry desert, we can imagine what that would look and feel like. Figurative language is when the author uses words in a creative way, like when they say something is as big as a mountain, even though it's not really that big.

By analyzing literature, we can see how the author is using these things to create a deeper meaning in their work. We can also see how they are using language to create a certain mood or tone.
