Cultural relativism is a concept that challenges the notion of absolute truth, morality, and values. It suggests that different cultures have unique ways of interpreting the world, and therefore, cannot be judged by outside standards. On the other hand, globalization is a term used to describe the increasing interconnectedness of people and cultures worldwide. These two concepts are intertwined and influence each other in various ways.

Globalization has led to the spread of western values, norms, and practices throughout the world. As a result, cultural relativism has become more relevant than ever before. This is because globalization has brought about an increased need for individuals to appreciate and respect different cultures. In this way, cultural relativism provides a framework for embracing diversity and recognizing the unique aspects of each culture.

However, cultural relativism has also been criticized for resulting in cultural relativism, whereby every culture is viewed as equal, and it is deemed inappropriate to criticize any aspect of it. In this sense, globalization and cultural relativism may clash. Globalization allows for the exchange of ideas and different cultural practices, but cultural relativism may limit this interaction as it results in a reluctance to critique and challenge different cultural ideas.

Another way in which cultural relativism and globalization are intertwined is through the increasing awareness and recognition of human rights. Cultural relativism contends that human rights should be understood within the context of each culture, and what may be considered a human right in one culture may not be in another. However, globalization has created a platform for human rights activists to push for universal human rights across the world.
