How has Hermeneutics evolved over time and how has it influenced other areas of philosophy?

Hermeneutics is a fancy word that means understanding and interpreting texts. So, how has it changed over time and how has it affected other areas of philosophy?

Well, in the olden days, people used to just take texts at face value. They didn't really try to look deeper into the meaning of the words. But then, in the 19th century, a guy named Friedrich Schleiermacher came along and said that we need to understand the context of the text and the author's intentions to fully understand it.

After that, some other famous philosophers like Martin Heidegger and Hans-Georg Gadamer got interested in hermeneutics too. They said that there is no 'objective' interpretation of a text because every reader brings their own experiences and biases to the reading. So, we should try to understand the text in its own context as well as the reader's.

Hermeneutics has influenced lots of other areas of philosophy too, like existentialism, feminism, and critical theory. These ideas have spread to other fields like literature, law, and even art. Now, people use hermeneutics to understand things like movies, paintings, and even social media posts.
