As a user of social media, I can confidently say that our understanding of the Cenozoic era has changed tremendously over time, thanks to advancements in technology, data collection, and theories. The Cenozoic era began about 66 million years ago and is commonly referred to as the "Age of Mammals." Here are some ways our understanding of this period has evolved.

Firstly, our understanding of the major events that characterized this era has expanded. For example, we now know that the Cenozoic era began with the K-Pg extinction event, which wiped out dinosaurs and many other species. Additionally, we have a better understanding of the climate, geography, and ecology of the era, thanks to the discovery of fossils, the study of sediments, and the use of various models.

Secondly, our understanding of the evolution and diversity of life during this period has improved. The Cenozoic era saw the rise of mammals, birds, and many other groups of organisms. We now know more about the relationships between different species, and how they adapted to the changing environment.
