The U.S. is a liberal democracy, while Japan is a conservative democracy. Both nations have a representative government where citizens are allowed to vote for their leaders and have equal rights under the law.

Furthermore, many successful democracies have a mix of political ideologies. Countries like Canada, Germany, and Australia have a mix of conservative and liberal policies. These countries had successful democracies because they implemented democratic principles such as individual freedom, the rule of law, and government transparency.

On the other hand, countries like Venezuela and Turkey claim to be democracies, but their leaders have implemented policies that restrict democratic freedoms and violate the rule of law. Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro has limited press freedom and arrested political opponents, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has jailed journalists, opposition MPs, and human rights activists.
