Is material science research being undertaken in equal measure by developed and developing countries?

Well, to be honest, I'm not really sure if material science research is being undertaken in equal measure by developed and developing countries. It's a pretty complex question and I think there are a lot of factors at play.

From what I've read, it seems like some developing countries are investing more and more into scientific research, including material science. For example, China has been increasing its research output and is now one of the top countries in terms of scientific publications. India is also making strides in this area, although it's still lagging behind some of the more developed countries.

On the other hand, I think there are still some major disparities between the resources and opportunities available to researchers in developed countries versus developing countries. Developed countries tend to have more funding and more established infrastructure for scientific research, which can make it easier for them to make significant breakthroughs in material science and other fields.

Another thing to consider is the way that research is shared and disseminated. Even if developing countries are doing a lot of great work in material science, if their findings are not being published or shared widely, then it might not have as big of an impact on the field as it could. And there are definitely some concerns about how intellectual property rights and ownership can impact the sharing of scientific knowledge across international borders.

Overall, I think it's hard to say whether or not material science research is being undertaken in equal measure by developed and developing countries.
