Are Plateaus more popular than Mountains for tourism in developing countries?

Well, I think it really depends on the country and what kind of tourism they are promoting. In some countries, plateaus might be more popular because they offer unique landscapes and cultural experiences. For example, the Tibetan Plateau in China is a popular tourist destination because it is home to many Tibetan Buddhist temples and monasteries, as well as stunning natural scenery.

In other countries, mountains might be more popular because they offer outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and mountain climbing. For example, the Andes Mountains in South America are popular with adventure tourists because of their high peaks and scenic trails.

However, I do think that plateaus have the potential to be more popular in developing countries because they often have rich cultural and historical significance. For example, the Ethiopian Plateau is home to some of the oldest human settlements in the world, as well as many ancient churches and ruins.

Additionally, plateaus can be more accessible to tourists because they are often located closer to major cities and transportation hubs. Mountains, on the other hand, can be more difficult to reach and require more planning and resources to explore.

Overall, I think both plateaus and mountains have their own unique attractions and advantages for tourism. It really just depends on the country and what kind of experience they are trying to promote.
