Can a movie poster be too revealing and spoil the plot?

Well, I think that a movie poster can definitely be too revealing and spoil the plot. There's nothing worse than going to see a movie and already knowing what's going to happen because you saw it on the poster!

I understand that movie studios want to generate buzz and get people excited about their films, but sometimes they take it too far. They give away too much information and ruin the element of surprise.

For example, I remember seeing a movie poster for a thriller that showed the main character holding a gun. That alone was enough to pique my interest and make me want to see the film. But then I noticed that in the background, there were several dead bodies lying on the ground. Now, I don't know about you, but for me, that gives away way too much information. I immediately knew that there was going to be a lot of violence and that the main character was probably going to be the one doing the killing.

Another example is when movie posters give away the big twist at the end of the movie. I remember seeing a poster for a movie that showed two main characters standing together, holding hands, and smiling. That seemed innocent enough, but then I noticed that one of the characters had their eyes closed. That immediately tipped me off to the fact that the other character was probably dead and that this was a dream sequence or something like that.

Overall, I think it's important for movie studios to find a balance between generating excitement and giving away too much information. There's nothing wrong with using a movie poster to create a mood or convey a feeling, but when it starts to give away major plot points, that's when it becomes a problem.
