Video games have been particularly affected by scientific advancements. In the early days of gaming, graphics were incredibly simplistic and basic. However, thanks to the science of computer engineering, video game graphics have now reached an incredibly high standard that is nearly lifelike. The development of powerful, high-speed processors and GPUs has made it possible for designers to create more detailed and complex environments. These technologies have also made it possible for games to use more realistic physics systems, making the movement and interactions in the game feel more organic and lifelike.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has also been a huge factor in the development of video games. Many games now include AI opponents that behave in a sophisticated way which makes the game more challenging for the player. These AI opponents can learn from the player, adapt to their actions and even anticipate their moves. At times, it can feel like you are playing against another human.

Board games have not been impacted by scientific advancements as much as video games. However, the development of new materials like plastics and polymers has enabled the production of board games that are more durable, affordable, and interesting to play. This has resulted in a surge in board game popularity in recent years.
