Well, I think the usage of pronouns can tell us a lot about gender roles and societal norms. Traditionally, we've seen a binary system of gender where people are either male or female, and the pronouns "he" and "she" are used to reflect this. People can identify as non-binary, gender non-conforming, or any number of other identities, and this is reflected in new pronouns like "they/them" or "ze/hir."

The use of pronouns can also tell us something about power dynamics within society. For example, using someone's correct pronouns shows respect for their identity and helps to validate them as a person. On the other hand, intentionally misgendering someone can be a way to assert power or control over them, and can be incredibly hurtful. This is a particularly pervasive issue for transgender and gender non-conforming people, who often face harassment and discrimination for simply existing.

It's also worth noting that the way we use pronouns can vary depending on language and culture. For example, some languages have gender-neutral pronouns built into their grammar, while others may not have any gendered pronouns at all. In some cultures, it may be more common to use titles or honorifics (like "Mr." or "Mrs.") instead of pronouns to refer to someone.
