Are there any current renewable energy technologies that are being overhyped?

Another technology that is receiving a lot of hype, but may not be as effective as claimed, is tidal power. Tidal power involves using the gravitational pull of the moon to generate electricity from the rise and fall of ocean tides. While this sounds promising, it is not without its challenges. The technology required to harness tidal power is expensive and complex, and the environmental impact of installing and maintaining tidal power installations has not been fully explored.

Another issue with overhyping renewable energy technologies is that it can draw attention away from other viable alternatives. Some technologies that are often overlooked include geothermal energy and waste-to-energy systems. Geothermal energy involves drawing heat from the earth to generate electricity and heating, while waste-to-energy systems convert organic waste into fuel for electricity generation. Both of these options have proven to be highly effective and should not be overshadowed by some of the more hyped technologies.
