Have you seen any winning movies that you felt didn't deserve the award they received?

Yeah, I've definitely seen some movies that won awards and I was like, "Really? That won?" Don't get me wrong, some award-winning movies totally deserve the recognition and praise they get. But there are definitely some that I don't think should have won.

For example, I remember when Crash won Best Picture at the Oscars. I was so confused because I didn't really think it was that great of a movie. I mean, it had some good performances and interesting themes, but overall it just felt overly melodramatic and heavy-handed. Plus, there were other movies that year that I thought were much better, like Brokeback Mountain and Capote.

Another movie that I didn't think deserved its award was The Shape of Water, which won Best Picture in 2018. Now, don't get me wrong, I really liked The Shape of Water - it was visually stunning and had some great performances. But I also thought it was a bit messy and didn't really know what it wanted to be. And again, there were other movies that year that I thought were more deserving, like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Get Out.

Of course, this is all just my opinion, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who loved both Crash and The Shape of Water. But that's the thing with movies - everyone has different tastes and opinions, and what may be award-worthy to one person may not be to another.

That being said, I do think it's important to acknowledge and celebrate movies that push boundaries, make us think, or simply entertain us. And even if I don't personally agree with every award that's given out, I still enjoy watching the ceremonies and seeing all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making a movie.
