What role did Native Americans play in the American Revolution?

Native Americans played a very important role in the American Revolution. When the war started, some Native American tribes decided to support the British, while others supported the American colonists.

The British promised the Native Americans that if they helped them, they would give them back their land and protect them from the colonists. The Native Americans who supported the British thought that siding with them was the best way to protect their land and their people.

However, some Native American tribes, like the Oneida and the Tuscarora, decided to support the American colonists. They believed that the colonists were fighting for their freedom and that by helping them, they would have a better chance of keeping their land and protecting their people.

The Native Americans who supported the American colonists fought bravely in many battles. They often used their knowledge of the land to help the colonists plan their attacks and to navigate through difficult terrain.

One of the most famous Native American warriors who fought for the colonists was a man named Joseph Brant. He was a Mohawk chief who led a group of Native Americans in several battles against the British.

The role of Native Americans in the American Revolution was very important, and without their help, the colonists might not have won the war. Today, we remember and honor their contributions to our country's history.
