These practices focus on being present in the moment and recognizing and accepting one's thoughts and emotions. In contrast, in Western cultures, exercise and diet tend to be prioritized for physical health and well-being.
Another example is the importance of community and social support in some cultures. In collectivist cultures such as many Asian and African societies, people often rely on their families and communities for emotional support and to help navigate difficult situations. In individualistic cultures like many Western societies, individuals are encouraged to be self-sufficient and rely less on others for emotional support.
In addition, different cultures may have varying beliefs about mental health and seeking professional help. In some cultures, mental health issues may be stigmatized and seen as a weakness or taboo topic. Meanwhile, in other cultures, seeking therapy or counseling is seen as a proactive step in maintaining good mental health.
