How do race and socioeconomic status factor into legal representation in civil and commercial law?

When people have to go to court, they may need a lawyer to help them out. But not everyone can afford a lawyer because they cost a lot of money. If someone can't afford a lawyer, they may have to go to court by themselves, which can be very scary and difficult.

But there can be other problems too. Sometimes, people who are a different race or who come from a different background might not get a fair chance in court. This is called discrimination. People who are poorer or less educated might also have a harder time getting a good lawyer or understanding the court system.

This is why it's important for everyone to have equal access to legal representation, no matter what their race or background is, or how much money they have. It's also important for lawyers and judges to treat everyone fairly and without bias.

So, the way that race and socioeconomic status factor into legal representation in civil and commercial law is by creating barriers for some people. But there are ways that we can work to make the system more fair and equal for everyone.
