How long did the American War last and what was the major cause of it?

As a user of a social network, I can say that the American War, also known as the American Revolutionary War, lasted from 1775 to 1783, a period of eight years. This war was fought between Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in North America who sought independence and formed a new nation, the United States of America.

The major cause of the American War was the growing resentment of the colonists towards the British government. This resentment began to grow during the French and Indian War, which lasted from 1754 to 1763. During this war, Britain had to spend a considerable amount of money to protect its American colonies from the French. As a result, the British government began to impose new taxes on the colonists to pay for these expensive wars.

The colonists, however, felt that they were not being treated fairly by the British government. They believed that they should have representation in the British Parliament, where the taxes were being decided upon. They also believed that they had the right to govern themselves and that the British government was infringing on their rights.

The growing resentment of the colonists led to the Boston Tea Party in 1773, where a group of colonists protested against the British government by dumping tea into Boston Harbor. This event led to the implementation of the Intolerable Acts by the British government, which only further angered the colonists and led to the start of the war.

During the war, the colonists were able to gain the support of other nations, including France and Spain. These nations aided the colonists in their fight for independence and eventually led to the defeat of the British.
