How did Japanese imperialism affect the Korean Peninsula?

Japanese imperialism was when Japan wanted to take control of other countries and make them do what Japan wanted. In the early 1900s, Japan wanted to control the Korean Peninsula. They did this by taking over Korea's government and making the Korean people do what Japan wanted.

This had a big impact on the Korean people. Japan made the Korean people speak only Japanese and took away their culture and traditions. They also forced the Korean people to work for Japan and treated them badly. Many Korean people were killed or put in prison if they spoke out against Japan's control.

One of the worst things that Japan did was to force Korean women to work in brothels for Japanese soldiers. These women were treated very badly and had to work in horrible conditions.

Japan's control over Korea ended in 1945 after World War II, but the Korean people still remember what happened during that time. They still have a hard time forgiving Japan for what they did.

Even though it was a long time ago, it's important to remember what happened and to learn from it. We should never treat other people badly or think that we're better than them just because we're from a different country. We can all live together in peace and respect each other.
