How has the European Union changed in recent years with regards to its political systems and governance?

Well, as a user of social media, I have seen some changes in the European Union's political systems and governance in recent years. Another change that I have noticed is an increased emphasis on transparency and accountability in EU decision-making. The EU has faced criticism for being opaque and bureaucratic, with decisions made in closed-door meetings that are inaccessible to the public. However, in recent years there has been an effort to increase transparency, with the EU introducing measures like the General Data Protection Regulation and the EU Transparency Register to make its decision-making processes more accessible.

The EU has also made efforts to strengthen its control over member states that are not complying with its rules. This has been evident in the EU's handling of the refugee crisis, where member states that did not accept refugees were fined. The EU also took steps to punish Hungary and Poland for alleged violations of EU values such as the rule of law and human rights.

Lastly, the EU has been addressing issues related to climate change and sustainability. In recent years, the EU has introduced initiatives such as the European Green Deal that aims to make the EU a carbon-neutral region by 2050. The EU has also been working on improving waste management practices and implementing regulations to reduce waste and promote sustainability.
