Who are the top literary agents representing best-selling authors today?
Well, that's a tough one! There are so many great literary agents out there representing best-selling authors. But if I had to choose, I would say that some of the top literary agents today include Andrew Wylie, Esther Newberg, and Scott Waxman.
Andrew Wylie, also known as "The Jackal", is the founder of The Wylie Agency and has represented some of the biggest names in literature, including Salman Rushdie, Philip Roth, and Martin Amis. He's known for being a tough negotiator and for representing authors who are not afraid to push boundaries.
Esther Newberg is a partner at the ICM Partners literary agency and has been in the business for over 40 years. She's represented everyone from Stephen King to Hunter S. Thompson to Carl Hiaasen. She's a master at negotiating contracts and is known for her loyal and attentive relationships with her clients.
Scott Waxman is the founder of Waxman Literary and has represented numerous best-selling authors, including Harlan Coben and Lisa Gardner. He's known for his business savvy and for being a great "matchmaker" between authors and publishers.
Other top literary agents to keep an eye on include Amy Berkower of Writers House, Neil Gaiman's agent Merrilee Heiftetz, and Jeff Kleinman of Folio Literary Management.
Of course, it's important to note that there are many great literary agents out there, and what works for one author may not work for another. That's why it's important to do your research, ask for recommendations, and find an agent who truly understands your work and shares your vision for your career.
So, whether you're a best-selling author looking for representation or just a curious reader, these are some of the top literary agents to know about. Happy reading!
