Technology has become a crucial part of language development, and while it can certainly facilitate it, it can also contribute to language delay. On the one hand, technology can be utilized to enhance language acquisition, both in terms of producing and comprehending language. There are several examples of how technology can improve language learning, such as through educational software, apps, and games that immerse individuals in a language-rich environment.

In addition, technology has facilitated the ease and speed of communication between individuals across the globe, which has greatly increased language exposure and practice opportunities. For instance, online language exchange platforms and virtual classrooms allow individuals to communicate with native speakers in real-time, providing an authentic learning experience.

On the other hand, technology can also be a culprit in contributing to language delay. One of the most significant ways technology can impede proper language development is through the overuse of passive screen time. Screen time can interfere with a child's ability to develop language skills, particularly in terms of comprehension and expressive language. Research has shown that passive screen time can negatively impact vocabulary acquisition and hinder the ability to understand and recall complex language structures.
