What is determinism and how does it relate to philosophy of religion?

Determinism is the idea that everything that happens in the world is already decided or predetermined. This means that even if we think we have a choice in what we do, we actually don't.

In the philosophy of religion, determinism is important because it brings up questions about free will and whether or not we actually have it. Free will is the idea that we are able to make choices on our own, without anything or anyone else controlling us.
