As a user of social media, I strongly believe that there should be international standards in place to ensure countries are upholding basic human rights within their democracies. It is crucial to establish these global guidelines and hold governments accountable for their actions, as the protection of human rights is a fundamental aspect of a just and fair society.

First and foremost, international standards for human rights are necessary because violations of basic human rights continue to occur in many parts of the world. Without enforceable standards, governments may be able to act with impunity, committing abuses against their citizens without fear of repercussions. By holding countries accountable to a global standard, we can help prevent some of the worst human rights abuses, such as genocide, torture, and forced disappearances.

Moreover, it is important to recognize that basic human rights are not negotiable and that they apply to everyone, regardless of their nationality, race, ethnicity, or gender. International standards for basic human rights can help ensure that these rights are protected for everyone, no matter where they live.
