How do mindfulness practices and meditation promote a sense of inner peace and help foster coping skills?

Well, honestly I don't have like a super scientific answer to that, but I can share my personal experience with mindfulness and meditation. So, I've been trying to practice mindfulness for a few months now, and I have to say, it can be challenging at first, but once you get the hang of it, it can be super helpful.

Basically, mindfulness is about being present in the moment, like really paying attention to what's going on around you without judgment or distraction. And I think that helps promote inner peace because it allows you to let go of all the thoughts and worries that tend to swirl around in your head and just be in the now.

Meditation, on the other hand, is more of a formal practice where you sit or lie down in a comfortable position and focus on your breath or a specific object. I find it really helpful for calming my mind and reducing anxiety. And I think over time, meditation can help foster coping skills because it trains your brain to be more aware of your thoughts and emotions, and to be able to observe them without getting caught up in them or reacting impulsively.

There are also physiological benefits to both mindfulness and meditation, like reducing cortisol (the stress hormone) levels in your body and improving your immune system. But honestly, for me, the biggest benefit has been feeling more calm and centered in my daily life. I still have moments where I get stressed or anxious, but I feel like I have a toolset now to help me deal with those feelings in a healthier way.

Of course, everyone's different, and some people might not find mindfulness or meditation helpful at all. But for me, it's been a game-changer. And it's funny, because when I first heard about it, I was like, "Pshh, that sounds like hippie nonsense." But now, I'm a total convert. So, yeah, that's my two cents on how mindfulness practices and meditation can promote inner peace and foster coping skills.
