Individuals are often the driving force behind political change, and social media has become a powerful tool for ordinary citizens to express their opinions and organize movements. With just a few clicks, anyone can share their thoughts on critical issues such as global warming, immigration, and war. Social media has given ordinary people the power to make their voices heard and influence the way policymakers think and act.

Organizations, on the other hand, have traditionally played a more formal role in shaping foreign policy. Groups such as think tanks, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and advocacy groups have long been involved in influencing policymakers on issues ranging from human rights to global development. Social media has given these organizations a new platform to engage with the public and influence policy at a much broader level.

One example of the role individuals and organizations can play in shaping foreign policy is the recent wave of protests in Iran.
