By regularly convening high-level meetings and forums, ASEAN provides a diplomatic space for Southeast Asian countries to engage in dialogue and resolve conflicts. For instance, in 2020, ASEAN member states held a series of virtual meetings to discuss their collective response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which had a significant impact on the region. By sharing information and resources, ASEAN was able to coordinate a regional response that helped prevent the spread of the virus and mitigate its economic consequences.

Moreover, ASEAN is increasingly influential in shaping the global agenda. As the world's largest regional economic bloc after the EU, ASEAN plays a significant role in promoting trade, investment, and economic integration. ASEAN's collective GDP is expected to exceed $4 trillion by 2025, and the region is home to over 600 million people.
