However, institutions can only be effective in preventing corruption, if they are themselves free from the influence of corrupt political powers. In many countries, government control over institutions is a major obstacle to fighting corruption. This is why the independence of these institutions is a crucial aspect of their effectiveness.

In summary, national and international institutions play an essential role in preventing and monitoring political corruption. Countries must work together and take a united stand against corruption to overcome this major obstacle to and progress and development of a society. The establishment of independent bodies, legislation, and the promotion of public awareness are essential components of an effective approach to the fight against corruption.
