Tourism can be really good for the world! It allows people to explore new places, learn new things and meet new people. However, sometimes tourism can have a negative impact on the environment. This means that when lots of people visit a place, it can cause damage to the natural world around it.

When people visit places of natural beauty, like national parks, they can accidentally damage the environment by leaving litter, making too much noise and scaring animals. They can also cause other types of pollution, like throwing rubbish in the sea or driving cars which produce harmful gases. This can be really harmful to the plants and animals that live in these places. For example, if lots of people visit a beach, the litter they leave behind can harm the turtles and other sea creatures that live there.

Governments around the world are working really hard to find ways to help preserve the environment whilst also allowing people to enjoy tourism. They are creating policies and laws to make sure people behave responsibly when they visit different places. For example, some places might not allow people to take cars into them, or might insist on people using public transport instead. Others might ask people to take their litter with them, or might ask them to only walk in certain areas.

There are also lots of things that we, as tourists, can do to help protect the environment. We can make sure we don't leave litter or cause damage to the natural world. We can also make sure we use public transport where possible, and not use lots of water or electricity unnecessarily. By being responsible tourists, we can help ensure that the environment stays healthy and beautiful, so that people can continue to enjoy it for many generations to come.

In summary, tourism can be both good and bad for the environment. Whilst it can sometimes cause harm, governments and individuals can work together to ensure that policies are put in place to mitigate it. We can all play our part in ensuring that the environment is protected, so that we can continue to enjoy the beauty of this world for years to come, while also ensuring that it remains healthy and sustainable.
