Which countries have the best record in biodiversity conservation and preservation and what can we learn from their actions?

One interesting example of this approach is the country's Payment for Ecosystem Services program, which provides financial incentives for landowners who engage in conservation activities such as reforestation and sustainable management of natural resources. This program has been successful in promoting conservation and improving the livelihoods of rural communities.

Another country that has made significant progress in biodiversity conservation is Bhutan. This small Himalayan nation has been recognized as a global leader in conservation due to its commitment to the principle of Gross National Happiness, which places equal value on social, economic, and environmental well-being. Bhutan has prioritized conservation through policies such as a strict ban on hunting and the establishment of protected areas that cover over half of the country's land. In addition, the country's constitution mandates that at least 60% of Bhutan's land must be maintained as forest cover.

Both countries have shown that it is possible to protect biodiversity while also improving the livelihoods of local communities. Another lesson we can learn is the importance of political will and long-term planning.
