What are the biggest obstacles to transitioning to 100% renewable energy?

Well, as a renewable energy enthusiast, I believe that there are several obstacles to transitioning fully to 100% renewable energy.

Firstly, the initial cost of transitioning to renewable energy sources like solar and wind power can be quite high and this is a major barrier for many industries and governments. Despite the long-term benefits of using renewable energy- such as reduced carbon emissions - the initial investment can still seem daunting to decision makers.

Another major obstacle is the lack of infrastructure for renewable energy. The current energy grids have been designed for traditional sources like coal and natural gas and may not be able to handle the clean energy from wind and solar panels. This can lead to energy disruptions and potentially negative consequences on the grid.

Interestingly, despite the increasing popularity of renewable energy, the sector still faces regulatory hurdles that discourage investment. Representative from the United States have voiced concerns that clean energy storage regulations need to evolve in order to fully support the renewable energy sector.

Finally, there is a lack of public education about renewable energy and its potential benefits. Many people don't realise that renewable energy is now more efficient than ever as well as being cheaper in the long run. Governments and organisations need to undertake mass outreach campaigns so consumers and businesses alike are aware of the cost and efficiency benefits of renewable energy.

In my opinion, addressing these obstacles could go a long way in transitioning to 100% renewable energy, a solution that would benefit everyone in the longer term.
