Should Learning Management Systems be mandatory in schools, or should they be optional?

As a user of various social media platforms, I believe that Learning Management Systems (LMS) should indeed be mandatory in schools. The reason for my stance on this issue is that LMS offers various benefits that help to enhance the learning experience of students in schools. Therefore, compelling an effective system like LMS in schools would be a great move towards the improvement of the educational sector.

Firstly, LMS provides an all-inclusive digital platform that enables easy access to the course material, presentations, books, and other resources necessary for learning. This feature ensures that students don't miss out on any information, whether in class or outside of class. Also, with an LMS, learners can easily keep track of their progress and performance since they have a clear record of the assignments they have completed and the grades they have attained. This, in turn, promotes accountability amongst learners, and they are encouraged to work harder and concentrate more on their studies to achieve better grades.

Moreover, LMS offers several interactive features that make the learning experience more engaging and fun. For example, online discussions, video and audio materials, and virtual reality learning. In some cases, distance learning, which has become common during the current pandemic, facilitates communication and enables many students to participate in class sessions without necessarily being physically present in the classroom. This inclusive approach is essential in ensuring that no student is left behind due to geographical, economic, or other limitations.

In addition, LMS presents a cost-effective solution for schools and students. With LMS, schools can significantly reduce the costs of purchasing print learning materials such as textbooks, workbooks, and course books. Furthermore, LMS eliminates the need for additional physical resources, such as classroom space, desks, and chairs. As a result, schools can save a lot of money, which can be utilized in other areas within the institution.

Nevertheless, LMS should not be optional since many students may miss out on its benefits. This is because some students may not have access to digital resources, while others may come from a low-income background that cannot afford electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Therefore, if LMS is made optional, these vulnerable students may be left behind, and their academic performance may suffer.

In conclusion, LMS should be made mandatory in schools. This is because it provides a more comprehensive, engaging, and cost-effective solution for learners. With LMS, students can easily keep track of their academic progress, participate in distance learning, and access academic resources from anywhere. However, schools should take measures to ensure that all students have access to digital resources to avoid leaving anyone behind.
