Which city or country serves as the best backdrop for a fantasy film?

I think there are many cities and countries around the world that would make great backdrops for a fantasy film. It all depends on the particular type of fantasy story and the look and feel that the filmmakers are going for.

One place that immediately comes to mind is New Zealand. This country is known for its stunning natural scenery, with everything from snow-capped mountains to rolling green hills to rugged coastlines. It is also the home of Peter Jackson, the director of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, which were all filmed in New Zealand. The landscapes of Middle-earth were brought to life on film thanks to the country's diverse and breathtaking scenery. I could totally see a new fantasy film taking advantage of the same natural features of New Zealand.

Another place that stands out is Scotland. It has a rich history of myths and legends, which makes it perfect for a classic fantasy tale or an epic adventure. The rugged and ancient landscapes that make up the country would be stunning on the big screen. Plus, who doesn’t love a good Scottish accent for their fantasy characters?

For a more exotic location, I would propose Iceland. With glaciers, hot springs, and volcanic landscapes, it would make a great setting for any kind of fantasy adventure. There are so many unique and breathtaking natural features in Iceland that would make a film feel truly otherworldly.

Lastly, I would suggest Japan as a great location for a fantasy film. Japan has a rich history of legends and beliefs in supernatural entities and creatures, which could provide great inspiration for a fantasy film. The country's architecture and cityscapes are also unique and fascinating to look at, with intricate temples and bustling neon-lit streets.

All these places offer unique qualities in terms of scenery, history, and culture and would make great settings in a fantasy film. I can’t wait to see what filmmakers might come up with next!
