Imagine having a large bowl of jollof rice for your entire family on Christmas day, and your greedy cousin comes along and snatches three-quarters of the rice, leaving only enough for the rest of the family to lick the bowl. That's precisely what corrupt officials do - they snatch up the resources meant for the entire country, leaving only scraps for the rest of the population. This creates a significant economic imbalance that could lead to a more significant gap between the rich and poor.

Another consequence of political corruption is the stifling of foreign and domestic investment opportunities. When government officials engage in corrupt practices, it creates a perception of insecurity and distrust, causing investors to take their money elsewhere or scared because it exposes their businesses to negative reputation risks.
