Positivity is the "in" thing right now. Everybody wants to be optimistic, believe in themselves and have a sunny outlook towards life.

But the question remains, is this something that we are born with, or can we learn it?

Well, to answer that, let's look at positivity as a skill. And like any other skill, it can be learned. So to believe that positivity is innate, is just downright pessimistic.

Sure, some people may have a natural inclination towards being positive, but that doesn't mean it's not something that others can cultivate.

Think of it this way, have you ever seen Steph Curry shoot hoops, or watched Serena Williams play tennis? These are natural athletes, but that doesn't mean they didn't work hard and train to get where they are.

The same goes for positivity, it's a muscle that needs to be exercised and strengthened.

So, how do you learn positivity? Here are some tips:

1. Start your day with a positive mindset

Try waking up each day with a smile and repeat some affirmations. Start the day with a positive thought. It could be something as simple as "today is going to be a great day," or "I am capable and confident."

2. Surround yourself with positivity

Surrounding yourself with positive people is a huge part of cultivating positivity. Find friends who lift you up, support you and make you feel good about yourself. Avoid negative people who bring you down.

3. Practice gratitude

Take time each day to reflect on the good things in your life. Write them down, say them out loud, or just silently appreciate them. Focusing on gratitude helps shift your mindset and helps you appreciate the positives in your life.

4. Reframe negative thoughts

When negative thoughts pop up, reframe them into positive ones. For example, instead of thinking "I can't do this," think "I will give it my best shot." Changing your perspective can be a game-changer when it comes to positivity.

5. Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness is all about being present in the moment and focusing on your senses. Practicing mindfulness can help you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, and help you shift to a more positive mindset.

Trust us, positivity is a skill that can be learned. And the more you practice, the better you'll get at it. So why not give it a shot? You just might surprise yourself!
