Well, in my opinion, what sets decorative art apart from other forms of art is that it is designed to serve a functional, aesthetic purpose. Unlike fine art, which usually exists purely for its own sake, decorative art is meant to enhance and beautify everyday objects and environments.

Decorative art can take many forms, from intricate patterns on fabrics and wallpaper to delicate etchings on glass and ceramics. It can also include things like furniture, lamps, and even architectural details like balustrades and moldings.

One thing that I really appreciate about decorative art is the way it can transform a space. By incorporating beautiful and interesting objects into a room, you can completely change the atmosphere and create a sense of warmth, luxury, or whimsy. I also love the way that decorative art often blends different styles and time periods, creating a unique and eclectic look.

Of course, like any art form, decorative art has its own set of conventions and traditions. Some of the most well-known movements include Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and the Arts and Crafts movement.
