When it comes to environmentalism efforts, there are several countries that truly stand out as leaders in this field. In no particular order, here are the top five countries that I believe are doing an exceptional job at promoting and implementing sustainable practices:

1. Costa Rica - This small Central American country is often cited as a global leader in environmentalism. In fact, it has been carbon neutral since 2007 and has even set a goal to become the first carbon-free country by 2021. Costa Rica boasts incredible biodiversity and has taken steps to protect its natural resources. For example, it has set aside over a quarter of its land for national parks and other protected areas.

2. Germany - Germany is well-known for its pioneering work in renewable energies such as wind, solar, and hydro power. The country has a goal of getting 80% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2050 and has invested heavily in the development of this sector. It has also implemented strict recycling laws, which have helped it achieve a recycling rate of over 65%.

3. Norway - Norway is another country that has made significant strides in the area of environmentalism. It has taken steps to protect its stunning landscape by setting aside over 40% of its land for national parks and other protected areas. Additionally, the country is the global leader in electric vehicle adoption, with electric cars accounting for over 50% of all new car sales in 2019.
